Imaginary Gardens
Most of my work uses geometric shapes and is more architectural in feeling. In this series, I explored ways to
combine organic and geometric shapes, cut paper, and acrylic paint, and use a shared but limited color palette
to create imaginary garden scenes. Unlike how I usually work by carefully planning a composition, in this series
I unleashed my spontaneity, building up each piece from a base of a loosely painted sheet of paper torn from
an old book, and then layering painted papers, both torn and cut. After completing each one, I then considered
ways to tie them together by adding white marks.
